On Monday fire gutted the arrival section of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The cause still unknown, but a source at the airport said there was an ongoing renovation of the arrival area, which was razed.
From the source who said
“It would have wreaked more havoc but for the timely arrival of men of the fire service. The inferno started around 2.10 pm and raged for about 50 minutes. It damaged equipment and infrastructure, but the rescue work helped in restricting the damage.”
