IPOB rejects June 12 Democracy Day, claims it’s a Greek gift to pacify Yoruba

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the recent declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day by President Muhammadu Buhari in honor of late MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of 1993 presidential election. It described the pronouncement as a Greek gift targeted at pacifying the Yoruba after its failure to checkmate its (IPOB) activities, which remains the authentic voice of the people of the East.In a statement issued through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB maintained that the posthumous award was a clever but desperate attempt by “Arewa agents of neo-colonialism to drive a wedge between the burgeoning understanding between the East and West.”It wondered why the same people that detained and killed Abiola would turn around to reward him with a posthumous award, if not for next year’s general elections. The statement read in part: “It appears there is no length the present Buhari administration will not go in its futile quest to counter IPOB agitation for a sovereign independent nation of Biafra. After another resoundingly successful 30th of May sit-at-home order from IPOB, it came to us as no surprise when Arewa north moved to pacify the Yorubas by declaring June 12 as the new Democracy Day.“Since it has clearly dawned on them that IPOB is the authentic voice of the people of the East, thereby rendering their slaves in Ohanaeze Ndigbo and governors’ lodges in the South East impotent, their next best move is to gain the confidence of the West in order to checkmate the rising influence of those that have come to forge an alliance strong enough to rattle the status quo.“Our successful sit at home order in 2017 prompted Arewa Consultative Forum to direct their youths to issue Igbos residing in the North with a quit notice. This culminated in a brutal military invasion of the home of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu sanctioned by Nnia Nwodo’s Ohanaeze and South East governors in what they termed Operation Python Dance. They came to kill, maim and ‘crush’ IPOB for good.“An equally devastatingly successful May 30th, sit-at-home called by IPOB in 2018 have sent shockwaves to the ruling cabals in the north that IPOB not Ohanaeze Ndigbo or Igbo governors, are the true representatives of the people of the East.“As with the clamour for restructuring, it can now also be confidently stated without fear of contradiction that this overriding need to checkmate IPOB is the sole reason behind the June 12 Democracy Day announcement by Aso Rock. A cynical move designed to truncate any East/West alliance or understanding with regards to a renegotiated Nigeria before 2019.“We view this announcement of a posthumous award for demised leading sons of Yorubaland in Chief MKO Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi as another clever but desperate attempt by Arewa agents of neo-colonialism to drive a wedge between the burgeoning understanding between the East and West. We prefer to call this belated move by the north, medicine after death- too little too late.“Isn’t it odd the same people that detained and killed Abiola are now cosmetically rewarding him with a posthumous presidency so close to an election year? The north are desperately hoping that Yorubas will once again accept this Greek gift and in turn reward them with their votes in 2019 as they did in 2015.In the process renewing for another four years the tenure of the most mediocre, barbaric, brutal, despotic, genocidal and undemocratic regime in living memory. Yorubas must spare a thought for the people in Middle Belt and what they are experiencing in the hands of the same Fulani terrorists, before deciding to embrace ‘Buhari’ with open arms.“The question most people are asking is, when will Yorubas bring to an end their one sided relationship with the north? Similar overtures were made to the West in the run up to the Biafra–Nigeria War when Chief Obafemi Awolowo was offered vice president to Gen. Yakubu Gowon which he accepted thereby abandoning his earlier agreement with Ojukwu. Thankfully, eminent statesmen like Pa Ayo Adebanjo has come out to condemn the whole posthumous charade.“It will be unfortunate if other leading lights in the West were to allow themselves to be easily deceived by the June 12 pronouncement from Aso Rock. Yorubas have a golden opportunity now to rewrite African history before 2019 elections by insisting on their Ibadan declaration that there won’t be any elections in Nigeria unless the basis of the union is ascertained and renegotiated.“This principled stance must be maintained because that is the only language Arewa north will understand, respect and respond to. Failure to hold rigidly to this stance will condemn Nigeria to a violent disintegration because full Islamisation, which the North are bound to unleash after their victory next year, will be resisted by force if need be by those of us in the East.“We must not forget that it was the same core Arewa North that imprisoned Chief Awolowo. It was an Igbo man and later Biafran soldier Chukwuma Nzeogwu that led a coup that its sole aim was to release Awolowo from prison and install him as the Prime Minister of Nigeria. It was another Igbo man, Ojukwu, that eventually released Awolowo from prison but upon his release went back to north and superintended the second worst genocide in human history.“The same thing happened with Obasanjo’s civilian presidency, which again was another move by the Fulani caliphate to assuage grieving Yoruba people after the annulment of June 12 and killing of Abiola by the same north. Today, even Obasanjo who was once their darling is now in their firing line.“This big brother small relationship have always been at play between the core north and Yorubas for centuries. Look at what Fulanis did to Yorubas in Ilorin where Afonja, a Yoruba prince was temporarily made the political head of the invading Fulani Islamic army to get him to turn against his fellow Yorubas. At the end of that campaign Afonja was killed by the Fulanis and his land converted to Fulani emirate.“A Yoruba Oba will never in this life sit on the royal throne in Ilorin. Ilorin emirate has become the exclusive prerogative of the Fulanis. This unfortunate outcome and Yoruba national disgrace was made possible because a Yoruba man accepted what appeared on the face of it an exalted political position not knowing it was a Trojan horse. These mistakes of the past must not be repeated by this present Yoruba generation.“Yorubas are learned, cosmopolitan and urbane. They possess enough intelligent people in their ranks to understand the damaging effect these periodic politically motivated inducements from the north can portend in the long run. That mere posthumous elevation of Abiola to a GCFR is sufficient to erase the horrors of this Buhari regime in the minds of Yorubas is an insult and if entertained will speak volumes about their political priorities of the Yoruba race.“The Yoruba enlightened political class must maintain a principled commitment to a change that will be of benefit to all, even where that change may include total disintegration of Nigeria as advocated by IPOB.”

That the Nigerian Army was restrained when fighting the Biafrans is a lie – Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation and a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has tackled President Muhammadu Buhari for saying that the Nigerian Army was not hard on the separatist agitation ofBiafrans during the 30 months civil war.Fani-Kayode said that one of the most wicked and despicable lies that Buhari has ever told is that the Nigerian Army was restrained when fighting the Biafrans during the civil war. This is a lie from the pit of hell and it is insulting and deeply offensive.President Buhari speaking atthe Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday during his investiture as Grand Patron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) had explained that they had strictand formal instructions to exercise restraint against Biafrans during the three-year civil war which took place between 1967-1970.The President recalled that every military commander was issued the instructions in dispatches handed to them from the then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, that the Biafrans, were not enemies but brothers and sisters. He said, “I remember with nostalgia the performance of the Commander-in-Chief, General Gowon.“Every Commander was given a copy of the Commander-in-Chief’s instructions that we were not fighting enemies but thatwe were fighting our brothers. And thus, people were constrained to show a lot of restraint.“The international observer teams were allowed to go asfar as possible within and outside the front and I think this was generous and very considerate of General Gowon. He is a highly committed Nigerian.”But Fani-Kayode on his Twitter handle said ‘One of the most wicked and despicable lies that @MBuhari has ever told is that the Nigerian Army was restrained when fighting the Biafrans during the civil war. This is a lie from the pit of hell and it is insulting and deeply offensive.‘We must learn from our history and never repeat its mistakes. Was the Asaba massacre in which thousands of young boys and old men were slaughtered an act of restraint?‘Or was the killing of 2 millioninnocent Biafran civilians and the starving to death of 1 million Biafran children an act of restraint?‘For God sake where is our humanity? Must we lie even about our history and try to revise it?‘No wonder they banned the teaching of history in our schools. Too much to hide!‘The truth is that if not for the fact that the same groupof people have called the shots in our country since 1966 every single commander of the Nig. Army during the civil war including @MBuhari, would have been charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity at the Int. Court of Justice at the Hague by now for the atrocities they committed against the Igbo race and the Biafrans during the civil war.‘I don’t need to be an Igbo to admit that.‘I just need to be an honest and objective historian and aGod-fearing citizen of the world. We must ask God to forgive us for what we did tothe civilian population in Biafra and we must NEVER allow such a thing to happenagain.‘Until that is done Nig. will neither know peace or meaningful progress.War is one thing but the targeting of innocent and defenseless civilians, including women and children, for ethnic cleansing, genocide and mass murder and is another!’

Restructuring summit’ll foster unity, enhance economic devt— Ohanaeze youths

ONITSHA—Leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing have expressed confidence that the agenda of the recent one-day summit on restructuring of Nigeria organised by Ohanaeze leadership in Awka, Anambra State would continue to foster unity. They said the summit’s agenda would equally enhance economic development and at the same time, create an atmosphere for a better society in Igboland in particular and the whole country at large. In a statement issued at the end of their meeting, weekend, the Ohanaeze youth wing leadership said it was deeply motivated by thesuccess of the summit, adding that the positive roles played by Chief John Nnia Nwodo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo president-general; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo-led summit organising committee; South-East Governors’ Forum; Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Senate President; South-East Traditional Rulers Council; Chairman of the occasion, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and many otherleaders from South-East, South-South, South-West and Middle Belt contributed to the success of the summit. In the statement jointly signed by Mazi Okechukwu Nwankwo (Abia State youth leader); Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, (Anambra), Ezeukwu Chris (Delta), Olughu Okoro (Ebonyi), Nnaemeka Ogbonna (Enugu), Chukwunyere Egbechuo (Imo) and Ezeilo Franklin (Rivers), the youth wing leadership reaffirmed that in line with the leadership positions of Ohanaeze Ndigbo parent body, they would embark on sensitizing every progressiveIgbo youth to ensure a new restructured Nigerian federation that would be the pride of the black man. They however, reminded theparent body of the dire need to respect the mandate of the Igbo youths by inaugurating the newly elected national youth leadership, as according to them, “the unnecessary delay tends to truncate their popular mandate and at the same time, promote the vaccum and as such, widen the communication gap.”They expressed concern over what they termed the communication gap which existed among all Igbo youthgroups, saying the gap was responsible for the excessesof a majority of the Igbo youths, under the auspices of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and other pro-Biafra groups. They therefore called for the immediate swearing-in of Mazi Uchenna Arthur Obiora (Chinetugo) as the national leader of Ohanaeze Youth Wing, having been elected in a credible, fair and transparent election conducted by the Ezechi Chukwu-led Ohanaeze National Executive Council, NEC, election committee.According to them, “the swearing in of Obiora would help to bridge the gap and bring about a harmonious relationship among all the Igbo youths, including those in IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups.”

Buhari: Nigerian army was soft on Biafrans during civil war

This, he said, was because the then head of state, Yakubu Gowon, issued strict instructions to the army that Biafrans were not enemies but “brothers and sisters of the rest of Nigerians”.Buhari was speaking at his investiture as Grand Patron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) at the presidential villa in Abuja. He said: “Earlier in my profession, during the civil war, I know how much sacrifice members of the Nigerian Red Cross and their international counterparts did both in the real front of operations and at the rear, on both sides. I think it is a lot of sacrifices because anything can happen to you in the operational areas.“The risks they faced were real and I admire their courage and commitment to helping people whowere in distress and were virtually in millions. Those photographs of people from the Biafra enclave spoke a lot.“I remember with nostalgia the performance of the commander-in-chief, General Yakubu Gowon. Every commander was given a copy of the commander-in-chief’s instructions that we were not fighting enemies but that we were fighting our brothers. And thus, people were constrained to show a lot of restraint.“The international observer teams were allowed to go as far as possible within and outside the front and I think this was generous and very considerate of General Gowon. He is a highly committed Nigerian.”The civil war broke out in 1967 — after eastern Nigeria declared “Republic of Biafra” — and ended in 1970 with claims that millions werekilled, mostly from starvation as a result of a blockade by the Nigeriangovernment.

According to him “Biafra people are being marginalized, maimed and even get decimated in large number by the Hausa Fulani and the Nigeria government though we own the resources that kept Nigeria running as a government, all the efforts made by the indigenous people of Biafra are shattered and brought to nothing by those who claim the ownership of Nigeria, that is why Nnamdi Kanu who is the supreme leader of IPOB as a group came to champion the struggle for our total liberation from the contraption called Nigeria, ‘we ought to give our support in our own little way as a people because tomorrow everybody will be rewarded according to his/her work.”In other hands Mazi Nweke Ugochukwu the state IPOB deputy coordinator urged them to be focused and shun any form of fear and intimidation from anybody or even the government because IPOB are fighting for what is due for them as enshrined in the United Nations charter on the rights of the indigenous peoples for self-determination and self-rule. “Igbo Intimidating Buhari With Biafra To Get Appointments” – Prof. Sagay

Constitutional lawyer and Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) on Thursday came down hard on proponents of the agitation of Biafra Republic, saying they are doing so for selfish reasons.Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent on why the agitation for Biafra became so serious after former president Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, Sagay said those clamouring for Biafra are doing so in order to intimidate President Muhammadu Buhari into giving the Igbos positions they don’t deserve having rigged themselves out of contention in the present administration.Describing the Igbos as die-hard loyalists of Jonathan, he said the Igbos who occupied 50 percent of federal positions in the country under the Jonathan administration resorted to rigging for the PDP in the last general elections.  According to him, having lost out due to their lack of principle, opportunism and rigging, the Igbos decided to resurrect Biafra as a ploy to negotiate with the federal government for appointments they don’t deserve.“I have been studying elections very closely in this country since 2007. The Igbos were committed to Goodluck Jonathan. But they didn’t leave it at that just convince people to vote for him”.“They decided to rig for PDP and Jonathan. They did that yet, the party still lost out at the federal level. So, they lost out”.“If you look at Jonathan’s government, the Igbos were in almost 50 percent of positions in this country. But they lost out because of their rigging and opportunism and lack of principle”.“And now they want to take it out on Buhari by resurrecting Biafra. They want to intimidate Buhari so much. They will now want to negotiate with them and start giving them things and positions they don’t deserve. That is intimidation and threat for no just cause”

Ikpeazu Vs Biafra: IPOB Blasts ‘Factional Group’, Accuses DSS of Blackmail

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday reacted to report by Mazi Okwudili Ezenachukwu claiming to be the new leader of the Biafra group and not the elusive Nnamdi Kanu. The Okwudili-led IPOB disowned the elusive Kanu while throwing their weight behind Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State who has been under attack from the. Kanu-led pro-Biafra group. In its reaction, IPOB said Okwudili was a pseudonym by the Department of State Services, DSS, to cause distraction within its members. A statement by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful said DSS would continue to fail in its attempt to infiltrate its ranks.Describing the report as “propaganda and blackmail,” IPOB insisted that such reports always surfaced when the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government runs into trouble with its image. The statement reads, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) view as laughable the latest attempt by the Nigerian secret police DSS to rescue one of their sinking Igbo slave in the person of Okezie Ikpeazu by seeking to deflect attention with the concocted, faceless, non-existent ‘Okwudili’ they claim is heading a ‘faction’ of IPOB. Hausa Fulani Arewa North and their slaves in Igboland, of which Okezie Ikpeazu and Nnia Nwodo are most prominent, even more than Rochas Okorocha, are misguided into thinking the great global IPOB family can be fooled by such kindergarten tactics of planting names in the public domain and claiming the person is IPOB leader.“DSS as a spy agency should work harder at infiltrating IPOB because all their efforts so far have failed miserably and will continue to fail because we are the most disciplined mass movement anywhere on this earth today.“Parading what is in effect a ghost as fake IPOB ‘leader’ to give the impression that IPOB is divided is a wretched joke long anticipated by the highest command of IPOB four years back and something we knew would happen, so we are prepared for it. “Therefore, it did not come to us as a surprise when this morning DSS hurriedly issued their usual ‘Okwudili’ press statement to the media to limit the fatal blow IPOB dealt Okezie Ikpeazu by simply stating the truth through our press statement yesterday that countered the lies he was spewing.“The public must understand the tricks and propaganda strategy of DSS. Any time this APC regime is in trouble with their image, they fabricate false high propaganda value news and blackmail, cajole or bribe media houses to carry it, so public attention will be deflected from the real issue/s. Remember the timing of the release of Chibok girls in 2017.“Is it not a coincidence that this DSS generated press statement, attributed to a faceless nonentity they named ‘Okwudili’ claiming he is IPOB leader, came out on the day Amnesty International published their report confirming that at least 12 people were shot dead at the home of our leader on Afaraukwu Umuahia on 14 September 2017?“That is the extent this deceptive Buhari regime is prepared to go to confuse the weak and gullible. Okezie Ikpeazu in less than 3 years in office, supervised five well known massacres of innocent men, women and children in Abia State, from which he will never escape justice, for he will be punished severely at the appropriate time.“We knew Okezie Ikpeazu’s Hausa Fulani masters will come to his rescue and today they have done exactly that by using our hallowed name to seek to exonerate him. This move is too little, too late for them. Anybody who is remotely interested in knowing how ridiculous this whole fabrications are should remember similar attempts in the past by DSS to give the impression that IPOB is divided which came to nothing.“This present Nigerian government in the past have floated RE-IPOB, TRIPOB, CG-IPOB and many more on the pages of newspapers, in the hope of attracting money hungry Igbo traitors to destabilize IPOB and betray Biafra but all their efforts failed.“They floated a radio station in the US called Radio Biafra International which failed to take-off till date, that attempt to replicate the world famous Radio Biafra was what caused IPOB to launch Radio Nigeria Hausa Service. Okezie Ikpeazu, Nnia Nwodo and other traitors must know that lies and deception can never help their cause of exchanging our blood for money and political relevance in Nigeria.“There is no ‘Okwudili’ leading IPOB. If this fake person does exist, how come there is no picture of him anywhere, he doesn’t address any gathering, he has no village, no parents, nothing. He is a mirage, a figment of the imagination of DSS and corrupt Igbo leadership. ‘Okwudili’ we know for sure exist in DSS computer hard drives and no place else.“From there they move him to the pages of newspapers for a few hours and the name vanishes. Anybody who allows him or herself to be deceived by this childish antic from DSS might as well believe Jubril at Aso Rock today is Buhari or that Naira notes is the main diet of snakes and monkeys.“IPOB is one indivisible family under God. No man born of a woman is capable of dividing IPOB. If you claim you are Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s replacement, please come out let’s see you, after that then come down to Biafraland and address us.”

BIAFRA: Nnamdi Kanu Lies Too Much, Worse than Chameleon – Gov. Ikpeazu Tells BBC (Watch Video)

Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has said that Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra lies too much and equally worse than a chameleon.Ikpeazu stated this during an interview with British Broadcasting Cooperation, Igbo (BBC) monitored from IGBERE TV studios. The governor also said that Nnamdi Kanu speaks from both sides of his mouth as he never consulted him before taking any action. He equally said that Igbos do not want Nigeria to break up as they are ready to rule the country when the time comes. In his words”Nnamdi Kanu hates South East governors, he does not want to associate with us despite the love we have for him.”Whenever you talk with Nnamdi Kanu, he always speaks from both sides of his mouth, he is not a straightforward person ””He never consulted me before taking any action, although we all agreed that Igbos are being marginalised but we should sit down and discuss the way out ” he said.Governor Okezie Ikpeazu agreed that Igbos are being marginalised but don’t have guns to go to war if it should break out.According to him, ”it’s true that Igbos are being marginalised but how can we get to the promise land? Police arrest Biafra agitators in Jewish synagogue

Police have arrested and subsequently paraded some Biafra activists in Aba, Abia State. It was gathered that about seven Biafra activists were arrested in a Jewish synagogue in Aba during a prayer meeting.A Police source said the men were holding “illegal meeting,” an allegation which the men refuted, saying they were only praying in the synagogue before they were arrested.Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi, had, while parading the suspects on Monday in Umuahia, said they were arrested with IPOB and Biafra insignia, arguing that IPOB remains an outlawed terrorist organisation. He said IPOB members had devised new strategy to further their agitation for Biafra by joining the same religious group of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and using their synagogue as a clandestine meeting place.Asked why Police also paraded some members of Biafra Independent Movement since the organisation is not proscribed, Ogbizi said if they did something contrary to the law, they would also be arrested. He said the police would not allow any part of Abia to be used as a “breeding ground for terrorists.”But irked by the development, Ohanaeze Youth Council has called for the immediate release of the Biafra agitators, insisting they have committed no offence to be paraded as criminals.National President of OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said Police had no moral justification to arrest peaceful agitators seeking self determination, whereas armed herdsmen have continued in their killing spree unchecked. Isiguzoro urged the security agencies to go after “murderous herdsmen” who are “known terrorists committing genocide across Nigeria,” instead of dissipating energy on non violent agitators.

Sad News For Obasanjo as Iyabo Obasanjo Reveals Shocking Secrets About Him Again

Before Nigerians get carried away by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent scurrilous attack against President Muhammadu Buhari, we dust from the archives an open letter written by his daughter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello in December 2013.It was at another juncture in Nigeria’s democratic journey, when Obasanjo wrote a scathing letter to former president Goodluck Jonathan, laced with poisoned arrows, very unsparing of the man from Otuoke. Iyabo replied him in like manner, dissecting her father, exposing his hidden traits, his pretensions, selfishness, corruption and other things. We are republishing the letter because a common weakness among Nigerians is the lack of history, the disease of forgetfulness and short memory. We want you to read Iyabo’s letter again and make up your mind whether you need to take heed of Obasanjo’s jaundiced letter to Muhammadu Buhari at all, or just simply ignore him, with all his bile, against an elected leader who has not even spent three out of his four-year tenure.Open Letter to Olusegun ObasanjoBy Iyabo Obasanjo, DVM, PhD It brings me no joy to have to write this but since you started this trend of open letters I thought I would follow suit since you don’t listen to anyone anyway. The only way to reach you may be to make the public aware of some things. As a child well brought up by my long-suffering mother in Yoruba tradition, I have been reluctant to tell the truth about you but as it seems you still continue to delude yourself about the kind of person you are and I think for posterity’s sake it is time to set the records straight. I will return to the issue of my long-suffering mother later in this letter.Like most Nigerians, I believe there are very enormous issues currently plaguing the country but I was surely surprised that you will be the one to publish such a treatise. I remember clearly as if it was yesterday the day I came over to Abuja from Abeokuta when I was Commissioner of Health in Ogun State, specifically to ask you not to continue to pursue the third term issue.I had tried to bring it up when your sycophantic aides were present and they brushed my comments aside and as usual you listened to their self-serving counsel. For you to accuse someone else of what you so obviously practiced yourself tells of your narcissistic megalomaniac personality. Everyone around for even a few minutes knows that the only thing you respond to is praise and worship of you. People have learnt how to manipulate you by giving you what you crave. The only ones that can’t and will not stroke your ego are family members who you universally treat like shit (sic) apart from the few who have learned to manipulate you like others. Before I continue, Nigerians are people who see conspiracy and self-service in everything because I think they believe everyone is like them. This letter is not in support of President Jonathan or APC or any other group or person, but an outpouring from my soul to God. I don’t blame you for the many atrocities you have been able to get away with, Nigerians were your enablers every step of the way. People ultimately get leaders that reflect them.Getting back to the story, I made sure your aides were not around and brought up the issue, trying to deliver the presentation of the issue as I had practiced it in my head. I started with the fact that we copied the US constitution which has term limits of two terms for a President. As is your usual manner, you didn’t allow me to finish my thought process and listen to my point of view. Once I broached the subject you sat up and said that the US had no term limits in the past but that it had been introduced in the 1940s after the death of President Roosevelt, which is true. I wanted to say to you: when you copy something you also copy the modifications based on the learning from the original; only a fool starts from scratch and does not base his decisions on the learning of others. In science, we use the modifications found by others long ago to the most recent, as the basis of new findings; not going back to discover and learn what others have learnt. Human knowledge and development and civilization will not have progressed if each new generation and society did not build on the knowledge of others before them. The American constitution itself is based on several theories and philosophies of governance available in the 18th century. Democracy itself is a governance method started by the ancient Greeks. America’s founding fathers used it with modifications based on what hadn’t worked well for the ancient Greeks and on new theories since then.As usual in our conversations, I kept quiet because I know you well. You weren’t going to change your mind based on my intervention as you had already made up your mind on the persuasion of the minions working for you who were ripping the country blind. When I spoke to you, your outward attitude to the people of the country was that you were not interested in the third term and that it was others pushing it.Your statement to me that day proved to me that you were the brain behind the third term debacle. It is therefore outrageous that you accuse the current President of a similar two-facedness that you yourself used against the people of the country.I was on a plane trip between Abuja and Lagos around the time of the third term issue and I sat next to one of your sycophants on the plane. He told me: “Only Obasanjo can rule Nigeria”. I replied: “God has not created a country where only one person can rule. If only one person can rule Nigeria then the whole Nigeria project is not a viable one, as it will be a non-sustainable project.I was on a plane trip between Abuja and Lagos around the time of the third term issue and I sat next to one of your sycophants on the plane. If only one person can rule Nigeria then the whole Nigeria project is not a viable one, as it will be a non-sustainable project.I don’t know how you came about Yar’Adua as the candidate for your party as it was not my priority or job. Unlike you, I focus on the issues I have been given responsibility over and not on the jobs of others. It was the day of the PDP Presidential Campaign in Abeokuta during the state-by-state tour of 2007 that Yar’Adua got sick and had to be flown abroad. The MKO Abiola Stadium was already filled with people by 9am when I drove by (and) we had told people based on the campaign schedule that the rally would start at noon. At 11 am I headed for the stadium on foot; it was a short walk as there were so many cars already parked in and out. As I walked on with two other people, we saw crowds of people leaving the stadium. I recognized some of them as politicians and I asked them why people were leaving. They said the Presidential candidate had died. I was alarmed and shocked. I walked back home and received a call from a friend in Lagos who said the same and added that he had died in the plane carrying him abroad for treatment and that the plane was on its way to Katsina to bury him.I called you, and told you the information and that the stadium was already half-empty. You told me to go to the stadium and tell the people on the podium to announce that the Presidential candidate had taken ill that morning but the rest of the team, including you and the Vice-Presidential candidate would arrive shortly. I did as I was told, but even the people on the podium at first didn’t make the announcement because they thought it was true that Yar’Adua had died. I had to take the microphone and make the announcement myself. It did little good. People kept trooping out of the stadium. Your team didn’t arrive until 4pm and by this time we had just a sprinkling of people left. That evening after the disaster of a rally, you said you had insisted that the Presidential candidate fly to Germany for a check-up although you said he only had a cold. I asked why would anyone fly to Germany to treat a cold? And you said “I would rather die than have the man die at this time.” I thought of this profound statement as things later unfolded against me. Then I thought it a stupid statement but as usual I kept quiet, little did I know how your machinations for a person would be used against me. When Yar’Adua eventually died, you stayed alive, I would have expected you to jump into his grave.I left Nigeria in 1989 right after youth service to study in the US and I visited in 1994 for a week and didn’t visit again until your inauguration in 1999. In between, you had been arrested by Abacha and jailed. We, your children, had no one who stood with us. Stella famously went around collecting money on your behalf but we had no one. We survived. I was the only one of the children working then as a post-doctoral fellow when I got the call from a friend informing me of your arrest.A week before your arrest, you had called me from Denmark and I had told you that you should be careful that the government was very offended by some of your statements and actions and may be planning to arrest or kill you as was occurring to many at the time. The source of my information was my mother who, agitated, had called me, saying I should warn you as this was the rumour in the country. As usual you brushed aside my comments, shouting on the phone that they cannot try anything and you will do and say as you please. The consequence of your bravado is history.A week before your arrest, you had called me from Denmark and I had told you that you should be careful that the government was very offended by some of your statements and actions and may be planning to arrest or kill you as was occurring to many at the time. The consequence of your bravado is history. We, your family, have borne the brunt of your direct cruelty and also suffered the consequences of your stupidity but got none of the benefits of your successes. Of course, anyone around you knows how little respect you have for your children. You think our existence on earth is about you. By the way, how many are we? 19, 20, 21? Do you even know? In the last five years, how many of these children have you spoken to? How many grandchildren do you have and when did you last see each of them? As President you would listen to advice of people that never finished high school who would say anything to keep having access to you so as to make money over your children who loved you and genuinely wished you well. At your first inauguration in 1999, I and my brothers and sisters told you we were coming from the US. As is usual with you, you made no arrangements for our trip, instead our mom organized to meet each of us and provided accommodation. At the actual swearing-in at Eagle Square, the others decided to watch it on TV. Instead I went to the square and I was pushed and tossed by the crowd. I managed to get in front of the crowd where I waved and shouted at you as you and General Abdulsalami Abubakar walked past to go back to the VIP seating area. I saw you mouth ‘my daughter’ to General Abdulsalami who was the one who pulled me out of the crowd and gave me a seat. As I looked around I saw Stella and Stella’s family prominently seated but none of your children. I am sure General Abdullahi would remember this incident and I am eternally grateful to him.We, your family, have borne the brunt of your direct cruelty and also suffered the consequences of your stupidity but got none of the benefits of your successes. In the last five years, how many of these children have you spoken to?Getting back to my mother, I still remember your beating her up continually when we were kids. What kids can forget that kind of violence against their mother? Your maltreatment of women is legendary. Many of your women have come out to denounce you in public but since your madness is also part of the madness of the society, it is the women that are usually ignored and mistreated. Of course, you are the great pretender, making people believe you have a good family life and a good relationship with your children but once in a while your pretence gets cracked. When Gbenga gave a ride to help someone he didn’t know but saw was in need and the person betrayed his trust by tapping his candid response on the issues going on between you and your then vice-president, Atiku Abubakar, you had your aides go on air and denounce the boy before you even spoke to him to find out what happened. What kind of father does that? Your atrocities to some of my other siblings I will let them tell in their own due time or never if they choose. Some of the details of our life are public but the people choose to ignore it and pretended we enjoyed some largesse when you were President.Getting back to my mother, I still remember your beating her up continually when we were kids. This punishing the innocent is part of Nigeria’s continuing sins against God. While you were military head of state and lived in Dodan Barracks, we stayed either with our mum in the two-bedroom apartment provided for her by General Murtala Mohammed or with your relatives, Bose, Yemisi and your sisters’ kids in the Boys Quarters of Dodan Barracks. At QueensCollege, I remember being too ashamed to tell my wealthy classmates from Queen’s College, Lagos we lived in the two room Boys Quarters or in the two room flat on Lawrence Street. No, we did not have privileged upbringing but our mother emphasized education and that has been our salvation. Of my mother’s 6 children 4 have PhDs. Of the two without PhD, one has a Master’s and the other is an engineer. They are no slouches. Education provided a way to make our way in the world. You are one of those petty people who think the progress and success of another takes from you. You try to overshadow everyone around you, before you and after you. You are the prototypical “Mr. Know it all”. You’ve never said “I don’t know” on any topic, ever. Of course this means you surround yourself with idiots who will agree with you on anything and need you for financial gain and you need them for your insatiable ego. This your attitude is a reflection of the country. It is not certain which came first, your attitude seeping into the country’s psyche or the country accepting your irresponsible behavior for so long.Like you and your minions, it’s a symbiotic relationship. Nigeria has descended into a hellish reality where smart, capable people to “survive” and have their daily bread prostrate to imbeciles. Everybody trying to pull everybody else down with greed and selfishness — the only traits that gets you anywhere. Money must be had and money and power is king. Even the supposed down-trodden agree with this.Nigeria accused me of fraud with the Ministry of Health. As you yourself know, both in Abeokuta and Abuja I lived in your houses as a Senator. In Lagos, I stayed in my mum’s bungalow which she succeeded in getting from you when you abandoned her with six children to live in Abeokuta with Stella.Nigeria has descended into a hellish reality where smart, capable people to “survive” and have their daily bread prostrate to imbeciles. Everybody trying to pull everybody else down with greed and selfishness — the only traits that gets you anywhere. Money must be had and money and power is king. Even the supposed down-trodden agree with this.I borrowed against my four-year Senate salary to build the only house I have anywhere in the world in Lagos. I rent out the house for income. I don’t have much in terms of money but I am extremely happy. I tried to contribute my part to the development of my country but the country decided it didn’t need me. Like many educated Nigerians my age, there are countries that actually value people doing their best to contribute to society and as many of them have scattered all over the world so have many of your children.I can speak for myself and many of them; what they are running away from is that they can’t even contribute effectively at the same time as they have to deal with constant threats to their lives by miscreants the society failed to educate; deal with lack of electricity and air pollution resulting from each household generating its own electricity, and the lack of quality healthcare or education and a total lack of sense of responsibility of almost every person you meet. Your contribution to this scenario cannot be overestimated. You and your cronies mentioned in your letter have left the country worse than you met it at your births in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Nigeria is not the creation of any of you, and although you feel you own it and are “Mr Nigeria” deciding whether the country stays together or not, and who rules it; you don’t. Nigeria is solely the creation of the British. My dear gone Grandmother whose burial you told people not to attend, was not born a Nigerian but a proud Ijebu-Yoruba woman. Togetherness is a choice and it must serve a purpose. As for Nigerians thinking I have their money, when it was obvious I was part of the Yar’Adua (government’s) anti-Obasanjo phenomenon that was going on at the time. The Ministry of Health and international NGOs paid for a retreat for the Senate Committee on Health. The House Committee on Health was treated exactly the same way. The monies were given to members as estacode and the rest used for accommodation, flights and feeding. While the Senate was on the retreat in Ghana, the EFCC asked the House Committee to return the monies they received for their retreat and asked us in the Senate to return ours on our return which I refused, as it was already used for the purpose it was earmarked for in the budget that year which was to work on the National Health Bill. I felt I had to engage in making the country progress and to avoid such incidences in the future. I don’t need to tell you or anyone what kind of governor and person Gbenga Daniel is. As usual when I found out, you would not listen to my opinion but found out for yourself. I also campaigned for Amosun for the Senate in 2003. I have had some wonderful Nigerians do good to me, I will never forget the then Minister of Women Affairs, who saw me talking in the crowd at a campaign event and was alarmed and said “bad things can happen to you out there, I will give you one of the orderlies assigned to my office to follow you”. This was the police man that died in my car that day. I never really thought bad things would happen to me, I moved around freely in society until that shooting scarred me and I accepted a police detail. I was constantly scared for my life after that. You called me after your vengeful letter as usual, looking out for yourself and thinking you will bribe me by saying the APC will use me for the Senate. Do you really know me and what I want out of life?Anyone that knows me knows I am done with anything political or otherwise in Nigeria. I have so much to do and think to make this world a better place than to waste it on fighting with idiots over a political post that does no good to society. That letter you wrote to the President, would you have tolerated such a letter as a sitting President? Don’t do to others what you will not allow to be done to you. The only thing I was using that was yours was the house in Abuja where I left my things when I left the country. I eventually rented it out so that the place would not fall apart but as usual you want to take that as well. You can’t have it without explaining to Nigerians how you came about the house? As I said earlier, this is not about politics but my frustration with you as a father and a human being. I am not involved with what is currently going on in Nigeria, I don’t talk to any Nigerian other than friends on social basis. I am not involved with any political groups or affiliation. You mentioned Governor Osoba when you spoke to me, yes I was walking down the street of Cambridge, Massachussets a few months ago, when I looked up and saw him reading a map trying to cross the street.I greeted him warmly and offered to give him a ride to where he was going. This I did not do because I wanted anything from him politically but because that is how I was raised by my mother to treat an adult who I really had no ill-will towards. Some said he was part of the people that manipulated the elections for me to lose in 2011. I don’t have any ill-will to him for that because I think they did me a favour and someone has to win and lose.I had told you I wasn’t going to run in 2011 but you manipulated me to run; that was my mistake. Losing was a blessing. As usual you wanted me to run for your self-serving purpose to perpetuate your name in the political realm and as the liar that you are, you later denied that it was you who wanted me to run in 2011.In 2003 I ran because I wanted to and I thought getting to the central government I will be able to contribute more to improving lives and working on legislation that impacts the country. I found that nothing gets done; every public official in Nigeria is working for himself and no one really is serving the public or the country. The whole system, including the public themselves want oppressors, not people working for their collective progress. When no one is planning the future of a country, such a country can have no future. I won’t be your legacy, let your legacy be Nigeria in the fractured state you created because, it was always your way or the highway. This is the end of my communication with you for life. I pray Nigeria survives your continual intervention in its affairs.Sincerely,Iyabo Obasanjo, DVM, PhDMassachusetts,

Biafra: Court refuses to order Buratai to produce Nnamdi Kanu

A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Friday, turned down request by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to order the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.In a ruling that was delivered by Justice Binta Nyako, the court dismissed an application that was filed by a team of lawyers representing the IPOB leader, which prayed the court to compel Buratai to produce their client, either dead or alive. The IPOB lawyers, led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told the court that they have not seen or heard from their client since September 14, 2017, when the Nigerian Army invaded his house, “on a murderous raid, where life and mortar bullets were fired on unarmed and defenceless populace, leaving 28 persons dead and abducting many.” Pursuant to section 40 of the Federal High Court Act, F12, LFN 2005 and section 6(6) (1) (4) of the 1999 constitution, as amended, Kanu’s lawyers applied for, “an order of Habeas Corpus ad subjiciendum, commanding the Respondent (Buratai), to produce the Applicant in Court.”In a counter-affidavit filed in opposition to the suit, Buratai told the court that Kanu was never in custody of the Nigerian Army. The army chief maintained that contrary to claims in the suit, soldiers who were deployed to the South-East for ‘Operation Python Dance II, did not have any contact whatsoever with Kanu on September 12 or 14, or anytime thereafter as alleged. The Chief of Army Staff told the court that the Nigerian Army did not at any time arrest or took Kanu into custody within the period the military operation lasted, even as he denied allegation that soldiers invaded the IPOB leader’s house in Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State.A colonel attached to the Chief of Army Staff’s office in the Army Headquarters, Abuja, Col. A.A Yusuf, who deposed to the counter-affidavit on behalf of Buratai, said the alleged invasion of Kanu’s house was totally false. In her ruling, Justice Nyako held that Ejiofor failed to convince the court that Kanu was seen with soldiers at any time. She pointed out that, “the doctrine of last seen,” which the applicant relied upon, even though applicable in murder cases, has no statutory backing. The Judge noted that Kanu was listed in the suit as the main applicant. According to the judge, she was surprised that someone that was said to be missing was the one seeking reliefs from the court, insisting that the lawyers ought to have rather commenced the action “in the name of the applicant.”Nyako said affidavits Ejiofor presented before the court contained criminal allegations against the Nigerian Army that must be proved beyond reasonable doubt.“Has the applicant placed enough evidence to show that the respondent was the last to see the applicant? Was there any evidence that he was last seen with even one soldier?“The onus of proof will not shift from the applicant to the respondent except the applicant is able to prove that he was last seen by the respondent. This they have failed to do.“This application fails and it is hereby dismissed. Be ready for your case,” the Judge held. When Ejiofor demanded to know from the court what the next line of action would be in respect of Kanu’s pending trial, since his whereabouts has remained unknown.Justice Nyako explained, “As far as I am concerned, the applicant is on bail. Was he not released on bail based on an undertaking by sureties?“The sureties guaranteed to produce the applicant in court for his trial, so three of them should produce him.“They made an undertaking and deposed to the fact that they will produce him to stand trial.“If there is any reason they cannot produce him, they should tell me on that date.”

Biafra: Ohanaeze tells agitators what to do, to achieve referendum

SEARCHDaily Post NigeriaDaily Post NigeriaPOLITICSBiafra: Focus on achieving Igbo nation through referendum – Ohanaeze to agitatorsPublished on January 12, 2018 By Seun OpejobiThe Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has called on agitators from the South East to focus on the 2018 Biafra restoration through the universally accepted peaceful referendum.OYC gave the call while advising agitators to discard rumour of Federal Government’s plan to establish a military barracks in Afara-Ukwu, Abia State, the country home of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.The body’s stance was contained in a statement signed by its National Vice President, Comrade Obinna Achionye.[the_ad id="26538"]Achionye also admonished the Federal Government to urgently rebuild the Palace of Eze Israel Kanu of Afara Ukwu, father of Kanu, allegedly destroyed last September when soldiers raided it in search of the IPOB leader. The youths said rebuilding the palace could go a long way in assuaging the anger of the community on the illegal invasion of the community by soldiers. The statement reads, “After our investigation, we assure IPOB that there is no iota of truth on the planned establishment of a mini military barracks in Afara.“Though we are not holding forth for Federal Government or Abia state Government on the issue, but it is high time we reconcile with all agitators and heal the wounds of Python Dance which left many Igbo youths dead, many Igbo youths are still in the morgue and we are worried of how they will be buried.“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide will always defend the interest of Ndigbo, especially from any external aggression and our collective enemies.[the_ad id="26319"]“We still call on all Biafra agitators to focus on the 2018 Biafra restoration through the universally accepted peaceful referendum, and never be distracted by rumours peddlers.“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths Council Worldwide will do anything peaceful to ensure that our youths are not victims of military brutality.“We call on the Federal Government to rebuild the Palace of HRM Eze Israel Kanu, whose traditional palace was wrongfully destroyed during the operation Python Dance, and urge Abia state Government never to be distracted in their efforts to rebuild Abia and call on Governor Ikpeazu to be the father of all in Abia”.

Biafra War: FG Yet to Pay Us N88bn Compensation – Biafra War Victims

Victims of the Nigeria/Biafra civil war, yesterday, said the Federal Government had yet to pay them, more than two months after it agreed to release N88 billion for their compensation. The government had in an agreement it entered before the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja, on October 30, 2017, said part of the fund would be used for the completion of demining and destruction of abandoned explosives within the South-East, South-South and North Central regions of the country.Specifically, the Federal Government had in the terms of agreement before the regional court, stressed that while N50billion compensation would be paid to “true victims” of the civil war that occurred between 1967 and 1970. It also said N38 billion would be paid to contractors for total and complete demining and destruction of abandoned bombs and landmines within the regions. The decision followed a suit marked ECW/CCJ/APP/06/12, which was filed before the ECOWAS Court on May 2, 2012, by one Vincent Agu and 19 others against the Federal Government and five others.A statement the group sent to our correspondent through their leaders, Egobudike Monday Ogbowu and Ndu Pedro, read: “On behalf of BIAFRA Civil War soldiers from Rivers state who were granted pardon and were promised to be paid off by the President Mohammadu Buhari-led government to permanently end the case in ECOWAS Court, we want to state that we have not heard or received anything.“Federal Government had as part of the terms of agreement, promised to effect the payment through Chukwukadibia & Co and Deminers Concept Nigeria Ltd, but up till now we have not gotten gotten anything and it is making us to wonder if the Federal Government and Chukwukadibia & Co and Deminers Concept Nigeria Ltd are playing politics with it?“If they are not playing politics with us, we urge the Federal Government to come out open and tell us the situation of things and the reason behind the delay in the payment.” The government opted for an out-of-court- settlement of the matter after four years negotiation period.According to the agreement document which the ECOWAS court adopted as its consent judgment, two firms, RSB Holdings Nigeria Limited and Deminers Concept Nigeria Limited, were said to have been contracted in 2009 to carry out demining exercise in the war affected areas. The government told the court that after an exercise that was conducted by medical experts that were employed by the two contractors to screen and identify true victims of the war, “All the parties to this suit acknowledge that 685 persons were selected and classified as survivors while 493 of them were confirmed as victims of either landmines or other dangerous military ordnance including locally fabricated weapons, hence entitled to compesation including their families and communities.” “Whereas the parties also acknowledged that a total of over 17, 000 bombs were recovered and destroyed by the 4th and 5th Respondents (the contractors), while a total of 1, 317 are still in the stockpile located at the Mine Action Center, Owerri, Imo State, large quantity of live bombs still litter the Applicant’s communities”. States listed to benefit from the deal were Anambra, Imo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Ebonyi, Cross River, Abia, Enugu and Benue. However, over two months after the terms of settlement was entered by the ECOWAS court, a group of Biafra war veterans from Rivers State, told Vanguard  yesterday that they had not heard nor received anything from the government. The government had before the ECOWAS Court, said it would pay the compensation  within 45 days  from the day the consent judgment was entered in the matter.Meantime, effort to get reaction of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, proved abortive as calls placed to his telephone line were not answered as at press time. The plaintiffs had in the suit they filed for themselves and as representatives of victims of the Nigerian civil war, including all the 493 victims pre-enumerated by the Ministry of Defence, demanded N100m as compensatory and general damages.

Reason Why IPOB Launches Hausa Radio Service

In a bid to educate the poor masses of the north about Biafra, The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has launched “Radio Nigeria Hausa service”.The group made this known in a statement issued on Thursday by Emma Powerful, its spokesman.IPOB added that the maiden daily broadcast would hit the airwaves on Saturday, January, 6, at 7pm Nigerian time. The statement read:“The broadcast will have the widest coverage of any radio signal in Africa.“It will be received all over West, East and Southern Africa. Every Hausa speaking community in Africa will be able to receive it.“In our opinion, we feel it has become imperative to educate the poor masses of northern Nigeria. The ruling class cleverly enslaved and impoverished ethnic populations of the north by keeping vital information and knowledge away from them.“This information deficit is what Radio Nigeria Hausa Service has come to remedy.”IPOB said it wants to use the station as an avenue to prove that it is not a selfish movement concerned only about the well-being of Biafrans, but are also “genuinely concerned about the plight of all oppressed people in Nigeria.”“Regardless of ethnicity, religion or creed, IPOB is pursuing an agenda of freedom for all,” he said.“Our message is very simple, 2018 will be like no other in the history of Nigeria and will prove to be the year of liberation for those brave enough to confront the evil that Nigeria has become in the lives of millions of people.”It added that those “deluding themselves” with the notion that IPOB has been weakened because of the absence of Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, “are in for an almighty shock”.“This move today is the beginning of a mass revolution against our oppressors that will spread outside the borders of Biafraland.“Every Hausa speaking northerner is advised to tune into 15110 KHz every night at 7PM, starting from this Saturday 6 January 2018, to be educated in order to be liberated.”The Cable

Suspected Badoo kingpin, Alaka finally speaks out

Suspected kingpin of the deadly cult group, Badoo, operating in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, Alhaji Alaka Abayomi, has declared readiness to submit himself to the Nigeria Police Force. The suspect had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command. He, however, vowed never to appear before the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi. While calling on the Force Headquarters to take over the investigation, Alaka said it would be compromised if carried out under Imohimi’s supervision.Alaka said this on Wednesday following the arrest of a herbalist, Fatai Adebayo, who allegedly administered oaths on Badoo members before they went on operations.A fueling station and a hotel on Ijebu-Ode-Itoikin Road, in the Sabo area of Ikorodu, belonging to the suspected kingpin, was sealed off by the Lagos State Government on Wednesday, saying the facilities violated the state ’s Urban and Regional Planning Law of 2010.The embattled businessman told Punch, “What evidence did the police have before calling me Badoo (kingpin)? Did any suspect mention my name? What does sealing my property have to do with this case? I applied and paid for the Certificate of Occupancy for the filling station five years ago, but I have not got it. I have evidence of payments.“Since the police declared me wanted , no policeman came to my house or office to invite me. The police have my number, but they did not call me on the telephone for invitation. I don’t believe I am wanted because no invitation was sent to me. Since the police said they were looking for Badoo members , they have not arrested any prime suspect.“I want the government to intervene. I am ready to appear before the police or any investigative body, but not before the Lagos State Police Command and Edgal (Imohimi ). A team should be set up to investigate the matter , particularly from Abuja . He (Edgal) declared me a Badoo kingpin , but what evidence does he have? About five security men guarding the filling station have been arrested. He said, “I can no longer walk freely around Ikorodu for fear of area boys administering jungle justice on me. I have read about the herbalist that was arrested. I don ’t know him.“Why didn ’t police allow him to talk to journalists? The case should be transferred from the Lagos State Command; they have dented my image. I sleep in my house in Magodo ; no policeman came to arrest me.“I will not show up at the Lagos State Police Command for three reasons: one, they don’t have evidence against me. I was arrested and released the following day without being told to write a statement.“Secondly, the CP has refused to appear in court. The case has been in court since August 2017. For three adjourned dates, the court was said to be on vacation. During the last sitting, the judge adjourned till February 2018 for ruling on the injunction, which is very suspicious“Thirdly, I will not surrender myself to the CP because he will compromise investigation. But I am ready to appear before the Inspector- General of Police and the National Assembly.“The genesis of this issue was when the IPO requested that I should pay N10m to settle some police officers at the command. It was when I refused to pay the money that I was arrested. I have petitioned the National Assembly and the IG on this.”

BIAFRA: Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Writes FG, Seeks Pardon For Detained IPOB Members

Counsel to the ‘missing’ leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, has asked the Federal Government to grant state pardon to youths of Igbo extraction he said were arrested and locked up in various prisons for exercising their constitutional guaranteed rights to self determination.Kanu’s lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in the letter he wrote to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, decried that “hundreds of innocent and defenseless IPOB members who are mostly youths”, are languishing in different prisons in the South East states and Kuje Prison in Abuja, based on “phantom, frivolous and cooked-up allegations”.He further drew attention of the AGF to the fact that one of the alleged pro-Biafra agitators, Mr. Bright Chimezie, has been in custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, without trial, despite a judgment of the Federal High Court in Uyo which ordered his release and also awarded him N5million damages for the violation of his fundamental human rights.Ejiofor noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had barely a week ago, granted state pardon to over 500 prison inmates detained on various violent offences in Kano Maximum Security Prison. He said the freed inmates were equally treated with cash gifts containing unspecified sums of Money.“While commending the Commander in Chief for such a patriotic act, we respectfully wish to implore the President to extend the same gestures to hundreds of innocent and defenseless members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), largely made up of Youths of Igbo extraction, held across the various prisons in the south East States and Kuje Prison in the Federal Capital Territory, on accounts of phantom charges, frivolous and cooked-up allegations, for merely exercising their constitutional guaranteed Rights to self determination including our Client who has been held in the custody of the SSS for over 14 months without trial.“What is good for the goose is also good for the gander! If the President is a true Nationalist, he should do the needful in this regard, without further prompting. One sided justice will amount to injustice!”, Ejiofor stated in his letter. He said the DSS had since been served with a copy of the high court order dated May 24, 2017, which directed it to immediately release Chimezie from detention.“On the 30th day of May 2017, a formal communication was submitted with the Director General of the State Security Services, requesting him to obey the order of Court, still the order was treated with brazen contempt and disdain, as our Client was neither releasedon bail, nor charged to Court.“Following the continued detention of our Client in flagrant disobedience of the positive orders of the Court, we initiated a formal contempt proceedings against the Director of State Security Services, through the filing and service on them, the requisite statutory forms (Forms 48 and 49), Notice of consequences of disobedience to Court Order, and Notice to show cause why the Director of State Security Services will not be committed to prison for his failure to obey Court Orders.“Also attached for your ease of referenceare the above referred forms.“However, in a desperate but unavailing charade to present an impression of strict compliance with the directives contained in the order made on the 24th day of May, 2017, the name of the Applicant was smuggled in as the 5th Defendant in charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015 between FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA VS NNAMDI KANU & ORS.“In the amended chargedated 21st day of June, 2017, and filed on the same date, our Client was charged with two offences to wit: (a) Conspiracy to commit treasonable felony and (b) Improper importation of goods. “The Attorney General is therefore invited to take note of these salient points as a manifestation of obvious acts of malafide on the part of State Security Services, acting under the strict directive of the State; The two Count charge preferred against our Client in the amended charge, contained offences which are ordinarily bailable in law, such that may not warrant or justify the detention of a subject beyond the statutory prescribed period, before being released on bail.“Charge No FHC/ABJ/CS/383/2015 above referred was first amended on the 7th day of November 2016, when our Client had spent well over 23 days in the custody of the State Security Services, still he was not joined as a party, if truly he had committed any offence known to Law.“The State Security Services suddenly remembered that our Client should be charged to court, only when the Court order compelling them to either release our Client on bail or charge him to Court was served on them on the 25th day of May 2017.“Since the amendment of the charge on the 21st day of June, 2017 vide the inclusion of our Client as the 5th Defendant in the amended charge, he has not been produced before the Federal High Court seized of the matter for the purposes of taking pleas to the charge, till date.“On record, the charge came up on the 17th day of October, 2017, November 20th, 2017, and 5th December, 2017, but on all of the above dates, our client was not produced in Court, neither was the said amended charge ever mentioned in Court.“When the plight of our client was formally brought to the attention of the Court, and the facts of the existing Court order of coordinate jurisdiction directing the State Security Services to release him, His Lordship (Hon. Justice Binta Nyako) declined to comment on the amended charge, as according to my noble Lord, Our Client has not been brought before her, so that she cannot assume jurisdiction over a charge that has not been read or mentioned before her.“Implicit in the antics of the State Security Services is that they are in law, still holding our client in clear disobedience of positive orders of Court that directed them to release Our Client.“It is crystal clear that our Client has spent well over 14 months in the custody of the State Security Services without trial. His continued detention is unlawful, illegal and in flagrant violation of both the positive orders of Court and relevant provisions of the Constitution above referred.“It is our respectful submission Sir, that to allow a flagrant disobedience of orders of Court is to strike hard at the foundation of the rule of Law and thereby unwittingly bring about anarchy. See the dictum of ADEREMU JCA in ODUNSI VS ABEKE (2000) All FWLR (Pt. 10) 1625.Justice in its total practical content is truth in action!“Justice is much more than a game of hide and seek. Our Client is therefore entitled to unconditional bail in the prevailing circumstance, and we respectfully urge you Sir, to use your good office to prevail on the State Security Services to release our Client without further ado.“Recall that you are under constitutional Oath as the Chief LawOfficer of the Federation, to protect and ensure absolute allegiance to the letters and dictates of the Supreme Law of the land. You can only be failing in the performance of this solemn duty, if after receiving this letter, you still allows our Client to spend another night in the dreaded custody of the State Security Services.“We respectfully observe therefore, that the administration of Justice is the firmest pillar of government. We implore you most respectfully Sir, to respect the sanctity of the judicial process, and accordingly give effect to positive orders of Court of competent jurisdiction by directing the release of Our Client without further prompting.“State Security Services is a creation of the Law and is at all times, expected to operate within the confines of Laws establishing the Agency, and not above the law.“It is the height of executive rascality and brazen impunity to allow positive orders of Court to be treated with disdain and contempt by the very Agency they supervise. It is time to put a stop to this impunity.“Harming one’s inalienable right in order to serve any sinister motive is injustice”, the letter further read.

Just In!! No Amount of Oppression, Propaganda will Stop Baifran Agitation – Eliot Ugochukwu-Uko

Evang Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, the Deputy Secretary of Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, has said no amount of oppression can stop the agitation for Biafra.Ugochukwu-Uko maintained that the agitation will continue despite Nigeria’s government declaring South-East youths as terrorists and other ensuing propaganda. This declaration was contained in a statement signed by Ugochukwu-Uko, who is also the secretary of Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA).The statement read: “The ongoing narrative that the south east has been forcefully and violently pacified, is patently false. The celebrations in the villa, that certain elders has helped them quench the restructuring gale blowing through the land up till a few months ago is fiction.“Yes, a military invasion was carried out in second week of September at Afaraukwu, a huge propaganda onslaught was unleashed to force down a particular narrative. Yes agitators were declared terrorists. Yes agitators were also proscribed. Yes people in certain quarters clinked champagne glasses and congratulated themselves and mocked the angry youths, that their agents amongst our people has helped them, as usual, put down the agitations. “But nothing could be further from the truth. No matter the conspiracies in high quarters, no matter the complicity of the so called leaders to paralyzed the demand for restructuring, and by extension, ensure the sustenance of the unjust status quo, truth is, resources deployed to save the status quo by attempting to crush the agitation to restructure Nigeria, is a wasted effort.“Branding oppressed frustrated youths terrorists and proscribing them without addressing the real cause of their anger, which is the wicked structure of unitary Nigeria and the evil 1999 military constitution, is treating the symptoms of a disease without addressing the virus responsible for the disease. 99% of the youths of eastern region are angry with Nigeria. Proscribing them or branding them terrorist will never solve the problem. Voting tons of money to block them and drive government narrative in the media is unhelpful.“Fake measures can only offer temporary relief and help officials who packaged the proposal to crush the boys, smile to the bank. All through history, all over the world, such fake measures has never truly restored peace. It can only drive the angry agitators underground.“We are hereby giving notice, that the agitation is not dead, the agitators have not been raptured to heaven, they are bitter, angry, and their next move unpredictable. Those deliberately delaying the restructuring of Nigeria are merely sowing the wind. We all will reap the whirlwind sooner or later.“This message is to the Presidency. The continued delay to restructure Nigeria will throw up consequences. The impression that the agitation secession has been crushed is false. Only an early engagement of the angry youths in a dialogue and the restructuring of Nigeria can guarantee peace.”

Just in! How we are pursuing actualization of Biafra – Dr. Ikedife

The Convener of South East Elders Forum, SEEF, and former President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife has revealed how they are pursuing the actualization of Biafra legally.Ikedife, who is also the deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of Elders of Indigenous People of Biafra, SCEIPOB, said the group is in court with the Federal Government through Billie Human Right Initiative over Biafra self-determination.The former Ohaneze President said SCEIPOB is seeking self determination for the Igbos politically, diplomatically, and through discussions within the framework of the law.He told Sun, “Well, the matter is still in Federal High Court, Owerri Imo State. And it is left for the court to determine our right to self-determination.“From the United Nations pronouncement which is adopted by the African Union (AU) and by extension Nigeria, it is declared that any ethnic group who so wishes has the right to self-determination. That right cannot be terminated arbitrarily. The issue there is, how do you go about it without infringing on the law. Billie Human Right Initiative took the Federal Government of Nigeria to court seeking to know whether the people in Biafra land have the right or not to seek self-determination.“The SCEIPOB is pursuing it legally, politically, diplomatically and through discussions within the framework of the law of the land. And you can see that other parts of the world are doing it.“You will recall the size of the Soviet Union, from there, about eleven countries have come out. Yugoslavia broke away, Czechoslovakia broke away and some others. Britain has left the European Union after being a strong member.“Scotland sought to be on her own from the United Kingdom, and so on. It is the universally accepted right of any group to seek to be on its own. There was a case like that in Spain and many other countries.“We have outgrown the era of enslavement and colonization, the era of Berlin Conference when Africa was shared and dominated by the European countries. Not anymore.“People should be allowed self-determination. It is a fundamental right. Time is changing. We should realize that the time of domination and enslavement whether you like it or not is gone.“Don’t forget that democracy is all about if you are allowed to rule me. If I don’t want you to rule me, it can’t be by force.“I will voluntarily allow you to rule me, not that you conquered me. That should be the position. That time of gunboat diplomacy is gone for good. Let people realize it, that you have no right to be ruling me if I don’t want it.”

2019: Pro-Biafra Group Sends Warning to Buhari, Atiku

Pro-Biafra group, MASSOB has maintained its stand on breaking away from Nigeria just as Atiku and Buhari prepare for showdown in 2019. File PhotoThe Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra on Monday asked President Muhammadu Buhari; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and others nursing presidential ambition in 2019 to perish their thoughts, saying Nigeria would disintegrate before then.In a statement made available to a Punch correspondent in Awka, Anambra State by the MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, the group said three nations would emerge from Nigeria before 2019.The statement read, “MASSOB wishes to inform the political gladiators of the Nigerian state that their 2019 political ambitions will not materialise because Nigeria as an entity will not exist beyond the year 2019.“Before the end of the year 2019, there will be no more Nigeria as a political entity; there will be newborn nations called Biafra, Oduduwa and Arewa republics”It said President Buhari would be the last president of a “ unified’ Nigeria. MASSOB in collaboration with other pro-Biafra groups in the genuine spirit of Biafra revolution declares that enough is enough.”He added, “The coming together of pro-Biafra groups will multiply our synergies and double our consistent efforts towards Biafra actualisation and restoration through our undying demand and pressure for a referendum that will determine our stake in the  Biafran project.”

BIAFRA: I Am Still Entitled to $800m Compensation – Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said that despite being granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja where he is being prosecuted alongside others on charges of treasonable felony, he is still entitled to the $800 m compensation for his alleged unlawful arrest and detention in 2015. This is contained in his response to the motion filed by the Federal Government asking the Community Court of the Economic Community of West African States sitting in Abuja to dismiss a fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by the IPOB leader.Kanu had filed the suit on March 3 , 2016 demanding $800 m as compensation from the Federal Government for his alleged unlawful arrest in 2015 and detention . But the Federal Government , through its lawyer, Mrs. Maimuna Shiru, filed its motion on November 13 , stating that Kanu having been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja on April 25, 2017, and allegedly jumped bail, the judgment of the ECOWAS Court on the suit would serve no purpose . But Kanu , through his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, objected to the Federal Government ’s motion contending that granting bail to the IPOB leader was just a partial satisfaction of prayers sought in the suit .Nnamdi KanuHe maintained that the ECOWAS Court had the power to grant his client the $ 800 m compensation sought since the IPOB leader’ s rights had been violated .Ejiofor stated in his written address , “We submit therefore that the court has powers to order for payment of compensatory damages when found that the plaintiff ’ s right has been violated”
